During the Corona pandemic, many seniors have discovered health apps for themselves. Three out of ten Internet users over the age of 65 (29 percent) have already used applications that support fitness, healthy nutrition or other health related issues. In January, only one in four over the age of 65 (25 percent) said so. This is the result of two representative surveys conducted in January and July 2020 on behalf of the digital association Bitkom, for which more than 1,000 people over the age of 65 were interviewed in Germany. "Health apps can provide particularly valuable help for older people," says Bitkom Chief Executive Dr. Bernhard Rohleder. "They support in the regular intake of medications, inform about biomarkers and vitals and provide incentives for a healthy life."
